Mogadishu, December 14, 2025 – eBesa, the mobile money platform of IBS Bank, has been recognized with the Mobile and Digital Finance Innovation Award at the Somali Technology Awards (STA) 2025, held last night at Hotel Afrik in Mogadishu.
The award was formally presented by H.E. MP Ahmed Osman Dirie, State Minister for Communications & Technology, together with Hon. Abdirahman Mohamed Sheikh Ali, Presidential Envoy on Health and Nutrition. Representing eBesa at the ceremony was Mohamed Bashir Osman, Head of eBesa Mobile Money at IBS Bank, who accepted the award on behalf of the team.
Other distinguished government officials present included Mustafa Yasin Sheikh, Director General of the National Communications Authority, and Abdirahman Said Ahmed, Deputy Director General of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), underscoring the national importance of the event and its role in advancing Somalia’s digital transformation.
